Hitradio 915 Cooper: ‘Illegale bouwwerkzaamheden in Pietermaai’

Minister Charles Cooper maakt vandaag op zijn Facebookpagina melding van illegale bouwwerkzaamheden in Pietermaai. De minister van Transport, Verkeer en Telecommunicatie laat met foto’s, die zijn genomen vanuit de lucht, zien dat bij werkzaamheden voor een nieuwe boardwalk er illegaal land is gedempt. Zo wordt er onder meer een pier in de zee gecreëerd en land gewonnen in de zee, zonder dat daarvoor een vergunning is afgegeven. De minister schrijft dat hij eigenlijk met vakantie is. Maar via Facebook laat hij weten dat hier tegen moet worden opgetreden en dat de mensen die dit doen verantwoordelijk zullen worden gesteld voor hun illegale acties.
Bas Filipini, eigenaar van de panden langs de kust in Pietermaai, reageert verbaasd op het bericht van de minister. Volgens hem is er geen sprake van het opzettelijk negeren van de vergunning. Tegen Paradise FM zegt hij dat hij momenteel in gesprek is met Minister Cooper om tot een oplossing te komen. Filipini geeft verder aan dat het een voor het publiek toegankelijk gebied betreft en dat er over de gewonnen grond gewoon belasting betaald zal worden aan de overheid.

Filipini geeft aan dat aanvankelijk het idee was om ook het water tussen de uitstekende slurf en de boardwalk op te vullen met grond, echter vanwege tekort aan stenen en vrachtwagens is besloten om daar van af te zien en alleen de buitenste rand te behouden. “Maar blijkbaar is die bult te ver de zee in gegaan, dat zag ik nu op die foto”, aldus Filipini.
